Tooth Replacement

A tooth that has been lost or removed should be replaced as soon as possible. There are many tooth replacement options including dentures, partial dentures, bridges, or implants. Failing to follow through with tooth replacement could result in long-term damage to your remaining teeth due to teeth shifting, decay, infection, bone loss, or other dental concerns.

If you are in need of tooth replacement, then call Ley Dentistry of Indianapolis today to set up an appointment to discuss your options. A few tooth replacement options we offer include:

  • Dentures – you may need to get full dentures to make up for the teeth you have lost. Dentures are made to look like your natural teeth and is a removable dental appliance custom-made to fit your smile. We also offer immediate dentures that you receive the day that you have your remaining teeth extracted.
  • Implant Retained Dentures- If you currently have dentures that do not fit well and do not stay put then implant retained dentures may be the solution. We can place implants into your jaw, and your dentures are then attached to the implants. This greatly increases chewing efficiency and provides more confidence in social situations.
  • Partial Dentures- Partial dentures are another option generally used when you are missing multiple teeth. A partial denture attaches to the teeth that you currently have and is a removable dental appliance that can replace multiple missing teeth.
  • Valplast Partial Dentures- If you currently are unhappy with the appearance of your partial denture than a valplast or acrylic partial denture may be the solution. Valplast partials do not have any metal framework. They are made of a soft acrylic and are typically more comfortable and more esthetic than conventional partial dentures.
  • Implants – an implant is a more involved procedure and permanent solution than dentures or bridges. An implant is made up of a rod and artificial tooth that is surgically implanted into your jaw bone. Implants are the most tooth-like option and typically are your most long term option.
  • Bridges – a fixed bridge consists of two crowns attached to the anchoring teeth (called abutments) and one pontic (an artificial tooth) that fills in the gap created by a missing tooth. Bridges are a more fixed solution to tooth replacement than partial dentures, but require more maintenance and typically do not last as long as implants.
  • Whether you decide to proceed with dentures, implants, or bridges, tooth replacement procedures generally take two or more visits to our Carmel or Indianapolis dentist office.

If you are missing teeth and are interested in dentures or one of our other tooth replacement options, please do not hesitate to contact Ley Dentistry of Indianapolis so we can help you restore the look of your smile and avoid further damage to your healthy teeth.
